Tia Maria liqueur is sweet, with bitter coffee and strong vanilla notes, and hints of caramel and citrus.

The to-go espresso alcohol was initially created in Jamaica with Jamaican espresso beans, yet is presently made in Italy by the Saronno organization.

The story goes that during the seventeenth 100 years, a Spanish young lady had to leave her family’s estate in Jamaica following the pioneer struggle on the island. She went with only one worker, Maria, who kept with her the family’s valuable gems, and their natively constructed alcohol recipe. To pay tribute to this worker’s dauntlessness and devotion, the eventual outcome was named after her, with Tia being Spanish for “auntie”.

The recipe was unseen for a long time until found by a man named Dr. Evans, who started to create it again during the 1930s. A few pessimists recommend that the “beginning” story isn’t correct, and Tia Maria was grown completely by Evans during the 30s and 40s.
